Labour and Conservatives know local government is not working in your interests and waste your money by playing politics with local government.
“Cheshire” was changed 11 times in the 20th century. Cheshire County Council voted for Single Cheshire in 2007. In a second vote, Labour members surrendered to Salford’s Little Ray of Sunshine and accepted non-compliant Cheshire/2.
Conservative members were told that they would not be allowed to stand again, if they voted for Cheshire/1. 10 did and were duly punished. George Osborne encouraged city regions and in 2016 single Cheshire was agreed as a city region – only for Cheshire Conservative MPs to reject this fearing that Labour would always be in control. Cllr Gittins will confirm that they will create a city region of Single Cheshire and Warrington, almost recreating the pre 1996 local authority. Both Labour and the Conservatives know, too, the long term solution.

Vote Independent Charlton for a motion to CWAC calling on Government to delay change to local government and convene a group to identify how to equalize rich and poor city regions and balance cultural and economic interests, rural and urban interests.
